Razor's Edge 2/14/2010

another 1-2 day.  Tennessee just flat sucked for the final 10 mins to allow a close game throughout to be a cover for Kentucky.  Was ugly to watch.

NCAAB:  6-6

Today real quick:

Over in the all-star game cause David Stern is going to want to put on a show.

Bowling Green(E)

Illinois (+2)

Razor's Edge 2/13/2010

1-2 yesterday.  Not a pretty day.  Siena was awful and WVU couldn't hold a nice lead and fell in triple overtime.  Yale did cover vs. Harvard however.  So here's where i'm at so far:

NCAAB:  5-4

Ok today my top 3 are going with the dogs:

Iowa State (+21.5) getting the  points against Kansas

Tennessee (+10) against Kentucky

Maryland (+10) against Duke

Big Dog Saturday.

Razor's Edge 2/12/2010

I went 2-1 again yesterday with the Zags and Umass coming through.  Stanford finally remembered how to play in the 2nd half, but missed covering by a hoop.  Whatcha gonna do?  So this puts me so far at:

NCAAB:  4-2

Today's card is very small with NBA on all-star break so here we go with IVY LEAGUE ACTION!!

Harvard vs. Yale(+5)

I'm going with the Bulldogs here.  Not exactly sure why except I just got one of those feelings.  Looking at the stats they all seem to point to Harvard, but then why is the line only 5.  Hmmmm...Goin with the gut and takin Yale with the points.

West Virginia (-3) vs. Pittsburgh

I went back and forth on this one, but it seems that Pitt's best basketball was a few weeks ago when they beat Syracuse, Uconn and the like, while WVU seems to be playing red hot RIGHT NOW.  Yes they just lost to Nova, but I think that will fire them up to get this win on the road.  College teams need a little extra incentive to get up for these tough road games and I think the Nova loss will be that spark that will lead WVU to get the win here.  Goin Mountaineers minus the points.

Siena(-4) vs. Niagara

Siena is just damn good.  Home or Away it doesn't matter.  They stomp on teams.  Niagara has not played great at home losing to Rider and St. Petes recently.  Siena continues with their undefeated league season here and takes Niagara out behind the shed for a little whoop ass.  Go with the Saints minus the points.

Razor's Edge 02/11/2010

So went 2-1 yesterday bringing home UCONN and DUKE, but Ball State plain forgot how to score in the 2nd half and got absolutely demolished.  Record so far:

NCAAB:  2-1

Ok onto today's card:

Umass (+6.5)  vs. Duquesne

Umass has played decently well and really sucked this year.  Both teams have been horrible in the A-10.  I see this game as a relatively even matchup where i'd put the line around 2 or 3 so I see a lot of value taking Umass at +6.5

Saint Mary's vs. Gonzaga (-6)

I was very impressed with Gonzaga blowing out a tough portland team and then traveling across the country to beat Memphis in their building.  Saint Mary's has played well this year, but they are still not in the Bulldogs class.  If this game was on a neutral court i could see Saint Mary's having a shot, but playing at Gonzage they are going to get wiped.  Take the Bulldogs and lay the 6.

Washington St. vs. Stanford (-4.0)

Stanford may be the worst team in college basketball when they play on the road, but when they are at home they play very well.  WSU has lost 11 out of 12 when they head into Maples.  The PAC-10 sucks this year and in this battle of PAC-10 sucktitude i'm going with the Cardinal laying the 4.

Razor's Edge 02/10/2010

I'm going to try and keep up with this on a daily basis and give my top 3 picks each day.  We'll see how it goes.

DUKE (-6) vs. North Carolina

I can't see Duke losing here and I can't see them winning by less than 10.  UNC still gets people to pick them cause they still wear that powder blue at Chapel Hill, but this Duke team is going to annihilate them tonight.  Take Duke.

UCONN vs. THE CUSE (-10.5)

I love UCONN here.  I know the cuse has been playing out of their minds and UCONN has been down for a couple weeks, but this is the game where Calhoun gets his players to play up to their potential.  I could see this game as (-7) or (-8), but over 10 is just too much to give a very talented Husky team.

Ball State vs. Kent State (-15)

Going Balls out on this one.  I've been riding Ball State all year and I don't see a reason to stop here especially with them getting 15 points.  Ball keeps this one very close and may even have a chance to win it.

LAS VEGAS BOWL

BYU COUGARS  vs.  OREGON STATE BEAVERS

This matchup is going to be a scoring frenzy.  Both offenses average over 400 yards per game and their defenses give up over 300 yards a game.  The ball is going to be in the air a lot which will keep the clock stopped and allow for many more plays.  The best play I see in this one is the over as long as the line stays under 60.

As for the winner of the game, I see this one being close.  The Beavers played a great PAC-10 season and nearly made a trip to the Rose Bowl, but fell short against the Ducks at the end of the season.  They nearly won what many college experts were calling the toughest league this season.  OSU has proven themselves against the stiffest competion all season long and they'll prove it again tonight by covering the spread and beating BYU.  Go with the Beavers minus the points.

Razors NFL Week 14 Preview

6-4 on morning NFL

DENVER @ INDIANAPOLIS
RESULT:  LOSS
Indy has been flirting with dropping from the unbeaten and this is the week it finally happens.  I see the Broncos winning this game outright.  I like the Broncos pass defense versus Peyton and his gang.  The pressure of going undefeated will hit the Colts this week and the broncos playing red hot right now are the team that will halt their season of perfection.  Take the Broncos plus the points.

CINCINNATI @ MINNESOTA
RESULT: WIN
The Bengals record is misleading considering over the last 3 weeks they've played the Raiders, Browns, and Lions.  They went 2-1 losing to the Raiders and playing close games against the other two pathetic excuses for football teams.  The Vikings are going to crush the Bengals this Sunday.  They are by far the better team.  This game will show the Bengals true stripes and it's not gonna be pretty.  Vikes minus the points.

NY JETS @ TAMPA BAY
RESULT: LOSS
I realize that Tampa Bay sucks, but you can't favor an NFL team missing their starting quarterback on the road against any team.  Tampa Bay have played pretty well at home and they'll get the cover in this one.  Take Tampa plus the points.

BUFFALO @ KANSAS CITY
RESULT: WIN
KC has no Dwayne Bowe in this game and Matt Cassel was a one season wonder.  Kansas City is one the worst teams in the NFL and while Buffalo is not much better they are better enough to beat this crap chief team.  The Bills get the road win here and easily cover the points.  Take the Bills minus the points.

GREEN BAY @ CHICAGO
RESULT: WIN
Last week Chicago couldn't cover against the pathetic Rams and now they have the red hot Packers rolling into the windy city.  The Bears can't run and can't pass and can't play defense.  That's not good.  The Packers will roll in this one.  I see them blowing the Bears out here by at least two touchdowns.  Take the Pack minus the points.

NEW ORLEANS @ ATLANTA
RESULT: LOSS
If Matt Ryan was playing this would be a great match-up.  Since Matt is doubtful for this game then it is just going to be ugly ugly ugly for the Falcons.  Saints roll on undefeated with a blowout victory.  Falcons were lost on offense last week and that will continue here as the Saints rack up the points against a very weak Falcon defense.  Take the Saints minus the big number on the road.

DETROIT @ BALTIMORE
RESULT: WIN
The Lions won't be able to score against the Ravens defense and although I fear giving up two touchdowns with a Ravens team the finds it hard to score, even the Ravens will be able to put up enough points to cover against this HORRIBLE Lions D.  Take the Ravens minus the two touches.

MIAMI @ JACKSONVILLE
RESULT: WIN
I still contend that the Jaguars are WAYYYY overrated.  They beat Houston last week only after Schaub went out in the 1st quarter.  That game would've been very different if he doesn't go down.  Miami is coming off a stunning victory over the Pats and that confidence is going to carry them in this battle of Florida.  This game is going to be low-scoring and very boring, but in the end the Dolphins come out on top.  Take the Dolphins.

CAROLINA @ NEW ENGLAND
RESULT: LOSS
The Patriots are pissed and the poor Panthers are going to take a beat-down behind the shed this week.  The Pats have lost two straight and last week gave away a game against the Dolphins that they should've won.  Tom Brady and the Pats are going to go off on Sunday and make sure that this game is not in question going into the 4th quarter.  Take the Pats minus the points

SEATTLE @ HOUSTON
RESULT: WIN
Schaub is back and the Texans are going to get back on track against the Seahawks.  The Texans can't run, but they can certainly pass.  The Seahawks can't stop the pass, so Schaub should have a huge day.  Take the Texans minus the points.
